01. THE CATALYST & RESPONSE
FR3AK FLAG emerged directly out of a cultural emergency in Vilnius. Following the closure of key independent spaces like Paviljonas and CreateCulture, the alternative music and jamming ecosystem lost its core hub. FR3AK FLAG was launched at ZOLAK immediately as a follow-up to ZENIT's VDA project as an experimental, avant-garde response—building a multicultural, radically safe space from the ground up.
As a displaced Ukrainian nonbinary creator living in Lithuania, navigating safe spaces is essential. FR3AK FLAG is built to be the exact opposite of restrictive institutional spaces: an ecosystem where raw self-expression and identity are actively celebrated.
02. PHILOSOPHY & COMMUNITY MOSAIC
Every Thursday night, live electronic and acoustic improvisations merge with spoken word, poetry readings, and multidisciplinary showcases into a single continuous stream. There is no elevated stage or dark crowd separation; everyone in the room contributes to the living energy of the evening.
Our growing family unites local Lithuanian creators, international expats (USA, England, Mexico), and displaced Ukrainian artists. It serves as a sanctuary for transgender, nonbinary, and queer individuals, drawing visitors weekly from across Lithuania, including Kaunas, Telšiai, and Klaipėda.
03. ACTIVISM, SHOWCASES & SOLIDARITY
FR3AK FLAG bridges artistic practice with direct social impact and wartime resistance:
■ Jam for Ukraine: Organized community fundraisers benefiting the Serhiy Sternenko Foundation in support of Ukrainian defense forces.
■ VDA Showcases: Co-hosted curated experimental showcases alongside the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
■ Human Rights Advocacy: Collaborated with local advocacy groups, including the Lithuanian organization Trans Autonomija, maintaining strong queer visibility and Ukrainian cultural resilience.
CALL FOR EUROPEAN COLLABORATION
To scale FR3AK FLAG from a thriving local weekly hub into a sustainable, cross-border cultural movement, we are actively inviting international partners, public/private cultural grantors, and the European creative network to connect with us across four pillars:
- Funding & Investment: Securing professional sound/recording gear and ensuring fair compensation for performing artists.
- Artistic Collaborators: Connecting with trans, queer, and Ukrainian musicians, poets, and visual creators for international showcase exchanges.
- Venues & Galleries: Partnering with alternative galleries and cultural centers to host larger pop-up editions across Europe.
- Promoters & Managers: Networking with cultural strategists to expand physical and digital community reach.
